How to give clients confidence in your inspection services

Whether you are preparing for accreditation or just looking for guidance on how to improve
confidence in your inspection services this course is for you. Inspection is not a precise science, however, there is an international standard designed to maximise confidence in inspection services. ISO/IEC 17020 was written by inspection organisations for inspection organisations and their clients.

Accreditation by IANZ to ISO/IEC 17020 is increasingly a requirement for inspection service providers in the regulated sector of the economy. Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17020 is also increasingly accepted as a means of demonstrating competence and reliability in the voluntary sector. Accreditation therefore provides a market advantage in the ever more competitive inspection field.

This two day course is designed to provide a practical understanding of the international standard, including:

• Impartiality and independence
• Confidentiality
• Measurement and equipment management
• Management of documents and records
• Subcontracting and acceptance of third party information
• Training and competence
• Reports and certificates
• Management of feedback and complaints
• Management system requirements

The course is interactive and provides ample opportunity to question and discuss issues of particular interest to course members.

Revision of ISO/IEC 17020:2012

The 2025 training was based on the ISO/IEC 17020:2012 standard. A revised version of this standard is anticipated by early 2026, and courses in 2026 will incorporate these changes and their impact. Participants will gain a strong foundation in these requirements while also developing insight into forthcoming updates - ensuring preparedness for both current compliance and future alignment.
